But here's how I fixed it: find geometrydash.exe and right click > properties. select it to run in compatibility mode for a previous version of windows (e.g. Windows 98) run geometry dash. it should load, but with bad fps etc. restart pc. run gd in non-compatibility mode. 1. Open "run" by holding down the "windows" and "r" keys. 2. type in "%appdata% in the chatbox. 3. go back from "roaming" and go to "Local". 4. Find "geometry dash" and delete ccgamemanager.dat and cclocallevels.dat from there. 5. Pressing play should work now. hope that helps.
