All of the dates are fine to shoot but the non-rebuilt guns sell at a higher price to collectors.

Nov 14, 2018 · Hi from Pittsburgh, PA. I bought an Inland M1 for just over $400 last week. It shoots fine but the fun is in learning more about the rifle. The serial number on the receiver says 210287 and it seems to be from 1942 but the stock is from Bianchi circa 1960 (with thanks to Johnny Rotten for the lead).

In late 1945 Winchester considered producing a sporterized version of the M1 carbine for commercial sales. The idea was dropped due to a conflict with goverment control of production rights.The bolt has the wear I would expect from a good amount of use, but the rest of the receiver, barrel, slide and trigger group have very little wear. In fact, the trigger group looks almost brand new. I read somewhere that some of these M1's were sandblasted during the rebuild process. If that's true, it's a shame.
