I don't have any of the earlier remasters of Superfly but judging from the Rhino remasters of other Mayfield albums I think I'd personally prefer the MFSL. OP - Please verify the output of the external preamp is plugged into an AUX input on the amp. If you're plugged into the PHONO input, you'll be getting too much gain which could lead to raised noise levels which could be perceived as HUM, not to mention a multiplied RIAA curve.
