Flame of the redmanes doesn't scale off weapon damage at all, so there's no benefit to using it with something huge. I agree, for raw damage lions claw, flame of the redmane damage will get bad quick, though the heavy poise damage is the appeal, I used it on my executioners greataxe, very brutal.
