Its silly, but yes you need to use the mask to get the update. It seems to trigger as soon as you wear the mask during a sand storm, even if you wear it just for a second and only in the storm for a second. Use your sandstorm mask next time. That worked for me. Just grabbing the dbs file and trying to overwrite it caused it to glitch. Single player/co-op character transfer still works but it seems the new journey steps weren’t tested using it, you’re only choice would be wait for a fix or start new characters and give yourself the stuff you had from EL with the admin panel.

Solution: you are not having the pet/thrall use the food, you are using it for yourself but from their inventory so the food item must be something the player character can eat/consume. Seems you need to use the stone weapons you crafted in prior steps to get it to work, that’s how I fixed it myself since I tried using my own and it didn’t work. I remember for some of the "craft x " journey steps, you don't have to craft it. You just have to pick it up. So if you already have one or find it on an enemy, you just have to transfer it to your inventory. Just crafting it or spawning it doesn't work.

Ive done it at least 10 times with the yog cleaver and it has not completed that step. Okay this one took a few tries to figure out, but basically you have to use the god tool to harvest a body until it turns into a loot bag. Not just once for your token, but two/three times. I'm stuck and have also been using the Yog cleaver.
