We had loot drop problems with Astral Alignment for supposedly the same reason. Wellspring is a 6-player activity with a ton of adds and ability spam. I know that the pattern comes from activity completion and not the chest, so I'm wondering if the this is problem could be in-play here. It doesn't matter which character you use, you can use a character whose pattern you have already unlocked. Whoever you use, the pattern you do get will be down to RNG, there's no way to gaurantee that it will be the Titan's pattern.
