General. I was in the silver mines a few days ago and looked up. Saw the usual 'decorations' up above, lights, platforms, etc and wondered... I wonder if any of that is real. So... I started climbing. Didn't make it very far because the lack of light makes the platforms hard to find but found lots of new ironstone on the way.

Rarely NPCs can drop gold coins but the most efficient method is mining obsidian in the volcano. It will rarely give goldstone and I mean rarely but there is an assload of obsidian to mine. You'll be tossing out thousands of obsidian just to get the gold you need.
