4020 Powershift - Shifting Issue. I have a 1966 4020 Powershift, lot of hours but fairly well taken care of. Shifts into reverse fine ---- when switching to forward it wants to miss. I have to shift back to reverse and then back to forward to get it to hit. Sometimes it will miss again, other times it picks right up like it should.

Being exposed to the fuel, heat and. time it becomes hard and starts breaking to pieces. The pieces float around in the pump and get lodged in. to the wrong places and cause this kind of symptom. If the sump screen was "completely plugged" you need to pull the final drives, repair the brakes and clean the rear end housing out and THEN start to sort out your hydraulic problems. Your problem may be caused by foreign material in the pump stroke control valve & the screen in the stroke control valve housing.
Good morning, Our '72 4020 leaks significantly from the steering motor pinion seal during cold weather operation. The colder the weather, the worse the leak. For reference, last week when operating at - 20 F, the leak was a steady stream. Once the tractor and/or ambient temp. warms up the leak stops or slows to an imperceptible amount.

That is a lot, and if it's not happening it can make a big difference in performance. 4020 is supposed to advance 2 engine degrees by 1000 engine RPM. Advance 10 degrees by 1600 RPM.
