The part that interacts with the piston on the BCG. I have a virtus 11.5 upper and a rattler upper. The barrel and BCG of either will work on either. But the adjustable gas won't line up on the handguard. And the rattler top rail is shorter so it will leave an unseemly gap if you used a virtus handguard
