Well machine was took to local cat dealership in town, they pulled the oil filter off an said they found metal in it, they wanted to pull motor an exchange with new, customer didn’t wanta go that route with out second opinion, so I was brought.

The first 50 mi had whatever Cat put in it. The next 50 mi I am running a wet clutch approved dino oil in the engine and dino in the diffs. At 100 mi it is getting Amsoil 0W-50W synthetic ATV oil and Amsoil syn in the diffs. The friction modifiers in auto oil will cause the wet clutch to slip eventually.

Change the oil when called for and they will last the life of the machine. As far as oil sampling goes I never recommend it anymore for excavator final drives. Nearly every sample report I've seen in the last twenty years shows high iron content and then goes on to say normal.
