Looks like the current offering of Leverevolution powder may be too slow burning for the 45/70, which is probably why it's not listed in the Hornady reloading manual (or any other lreloading manual for that matter). RL-7 and H4198 are faster burning powders, which is what the 45/70 requires for proper ignition.

If you decide to shoot up the surplus powder in your 45-70, I'd start less than 20 grains using the cereal filler and see how things go. Might want to use a magnum rifle primer to ignite the hard to start powder if things work out but have unburnt powder in the bore. I think Lil Gun is too fast of a burning powder for the 45-70. It is a high pressure powder. If you load it to little you cause a high pressure problem, if you load it to much you cause a high pressure problem. Hodgdon does not even list a load with it. For hotter loads I use 2400 and for much hotter loads I use 4198 or RL7. Unique is dirty but very accurate and easy on the shoulder.

The recoil was more than a little "snappy", more like "brisk" and exhilarating to say the least. In my Marlin 1895 the same load is pretty "snappy".
