I have never noticed a big difference in the Gen1 vs. Gen2 grip. The difference when using skate board tape or having a "golf ball" textured grip doesn't make much difference in my shooting performance. BUT, that refers to a Gen1 Staccato P, the Gen 2 is a different gun. As soon as I saw the Gen2 Staccato P, I ran out and bought a second Staccato P Gen1 before they dried up.Oh and the flared magwell on cosaint is polymer instead of steel that looks great but would definitely break if dropped. But it functions almost identical to the Staccato. The owner actually worked at Staccato so it's very similar.
