The old Jarls son will most probalby don't know people that can replace the servants of his mother, where Maven can replace every old supporter of Ulfric with a guy that is loyal to her and the Imperials (in that order). Nope. You capture Whiterun for the Stormcloaks and you have no choice but to give up Riften to the Empire. Likewise, Markarth is automatically given to the Stormcloaks if you're neutral or sided with the Imperials. So if you want to keep Riften under Stormcloak rule, either finish the Civil War quest line for the Stormcloaks and avoid Season ...
