I ended up getting the Tethrd Phantom last year. It is crazy comfy especially when it gets colder and you have more layers on. I also got the Hawk Helium double steps. I believe that the reason for that is this: I measured the width of the Phantom seat at it's widest point, which is from the top center (back side) of the waist belt to the bottom center of the seat. The length on the Phantom was 10.5 in.

They must have shipped the Mantis manufacturing overseas without notifying customers of the change. The second and fourth pictures on the Mantis saddle page show pictures of the Mantis with the American flag still sewn on it.
